PocketFMS features.

PocketFMS is extremely versatile, and it would be nearly impossible to list all its features here. We'll just select a number of PocketFMS' strongest points:

Advanced Flight Planning on both Desktop and PDA versions:
  - You can plan an unlimited number of legs per Flight Plan, and rely on automatic Flight Plan reversal.
  - You can even search for and plan to non-aviation related places - your home town is most likely in our database.
  - You can plan towards any object in the database: towns, NavAids, airports, IFR waypoints, etc.
  - Drag and drop route planning is supported.
  - Automatically reroute around the Airspace Classes & -Types you want to avoid.
  - You're automatically routed via VFR Reporting Points if any are applicable for the planned airports.
  - Weather information is automatically included in your Flight Plan - you can even automatically plan around adverse meteo conditions.
  - Graphically displayed weather on the Moving Maps can be forwarded & reversed in one hour steps to monitor development and decide your flight window.
  - Automatic totalling of flight time, distance and fuel required.
  - Easy Weight & Balance is included with envelope plotting for zero and max. fuel.
  - You can choose which units you want to use (KTS, Km/h, Mi/h, °C, °F, TH, MH, etc.). All conversions are done automatically and transparently.
  - You can print a paper Navigation Log with meteo briefing for kneeboard use.
  - Automatically creates NAIPS notification file (.dtl) for Australian users.

  Advanced Flight Execution:
  - You're constantly aware of your present situation, creating more time for your other cockpit duties and releaving your work load.
  - You're immediately aware of high terrain and warned for obstacles.
  - You're immediately aware of every Airspace Class & -Type on your path. Airspace incursions are a thing of the past; you will be alerted well ahead before entering a controlled airspace - even the controlling agency's name & frequency are displayed.
  - You'll have the required frequencies at your disposal at the moment you need them - even of facilities that you didn't include in your Flight Plan.
  - Setting up an in-flight diversion is now a matter of a few clicks.
  - Automatic re-routing helps you avoid selected airspaces, high terrain and adverse weather conditions.
  - Convenient graphical markers indicate where to start and stop your climbs and descends.
  - Advanced graphical weather information can be shown on the Moving Maps (Precipitation radar, SigWX, winds aloft, etc.).
  - There's a Virtual Approach Path (VAP) guiding you all the way to the runway even in poor visibility.
  - PocketFMS can drive modern AutoPilots. Just sit back and monitor your flight!
  - PocketFMS graphical shows collision hazards when connected to either a FLARM or Zaon XRX TCAS device.
  - Safety by redundancy: if your on-board electrics fail, PocketFMS will continue.

Use an unlimited number of Airplane Definitions for:
  - Automatic fuel consumption calculations, even per Flight Plan leg.
  - Easy Weight & Balance calculations with graphical envelope plotting.
  - Monitoring airport requirements, such as runway lengths and availability of (non-) precision approach facilities. Airports that don't meet your criteria can be filtered out.
  - Monitoring max. crosswind components - airports exceeding your plane's limits won't be used.
  - Guarding your flown altitude.
  - Starts & stops of planned climbs and descends are conveniently marked on the Moving Map, based on your airplane's performance.

  PocketFMS World Navigation database:
  - The professionally maintained, world-covering AeroDatabase holds airports, runways, NavAids, frequencies, obstacles, place names, airspaces - the works. It is updated every 2 hours instead of the conventional 28 days.
  - Any reported omissions in the AeroDatabase are usually corrected the same day.
  - All objects including places & cities can be searched and directly be incorporated in flight planning.
  - Small, quick downloads per FIR / ARTCC whenever you want - no need to download large updated graphical maps whenever some detail changes. PocketFMS places all information on the background maps by itself as objects.
  - Download the AeroData as often and as much as you want.
  - PocketFMS supports the use of self-scanned Approach & Departure charts, Taxi charts, Airport diagrams, etc. and the sharing of these via our servers.
  - PocketFMS comes with detailed, world-wide VFR Roads & Rivers maps, updated usually yearly.

2 Highly customizable Moving Map displays:
  - Two independantly configurable Moving Map displays allow you to see exactly what you need. Automatic decluttering per zoomlevel is performed to provide the clearest Moving Map view while still providing all required information.
  - World-wide, high-resolution Roads & Rivers maps are available for download at no extra costs.
  - No less than 11 levels of zoom are available. Zooming does not affect the text and objects size.
  - All objects and texts stay upright on the Moving Maps, even when the map is rotated in the direction of flight.
  - All object types can be displayed on or hidden from the Moving Maps at the click of a button.
  - All object and airspace colors can be set the way you want them.
  - Display wind barbs, NATO color codes for airports, precipitation radar and significant weather. Animate the displayed weather in one-hour increments to monitor weather development or seek for a flight window.
  - HSI display is available, both stand-alone and superimposed over the Moving Map, in rose and arc modes.
  - When connected to a FLARM or Zaon XRX TCAS device, graphical anti-collision information is displayed.
  - Elevation related terrain shading, modes for both ground absolute and aircraft altitude relative color shading.
  - User-customizable Airspace Warning System alerts you prior to controlled airspace entry, even graphically.
  - User-customizable Obstacle and Terrain Warning Systems alert you of (C)FIT hazards.
  - Your track is constantly recorded, and can be reviewed in PocketFMS & Google Earth.

A Moving Map display.

Advanced Weather briefing & Meteo data integration:
  - Compute the density altitude, pressure altitude and actual winds aloft, even in flight.
  - Download METARs, TAFs, Long TAFs and incorporate them seamlessly and automatically into you flight plan.
  - View winds at 2000', 5000' and FL85, cloud base and significant weather on the Moving Maps, and even step forward and backwards in one hour increments to monitor development and decide your flight window.
  - View animated precipitation radar overlays on the Moving Maps.
Display the textual METARs & TAFs with a click on the Moving Map.
  - Advanced options like cloudbase minima, maximum crosswind and alternate minima for your flight plan weather briefing can be set. Filter out airports that currently are below your WX or performance minima.
  - Step through the weather information in one hour increments and graphically see the WX development as far as 2 days ahead.
  - Per defined aircraft, you can set acceptable cloudbase minima, maximum crosswind and alternate minima.

Works with any NMEA compliant GPS receiver:
  - Tested with several mouse type GPS receivers.
  - Works with any NMEA 0183 compliant GPS receiver with serial output (most Garmin, Magellan receivers).
  - Works with any fairly recent Bluetooth GPS receiver.
  - Works with the FLARM GPS & TCAS device.
  - Works with most older GPS receivers e.g. Navman 3000 sleeve type, DeLorme's Earthmate.
