Version 1.3.1, Internet released 28OCT2009. | [Top] |
|
- ADVANCED: When performing an SD card preparation, a network drive can be selected as destination if registry key HKCU\Software\Wad\pocketfms\settings\AllowNetworkDrivesAsMobileDestination (=RG_DWORD) is found with a value of 1.
- ADVANCED: When doing File | Sync/Prepare SD Card for Mobile Device, PocketFMS checks if a directory called InstallPocketFMSHere exists. If so, it install PocketFMS in there as if that was the root of the SD Card. This is only to be used by experts that know how to create shortcuts etc, and is mainly created for devices that have large storage capacity to allow multiple applications on that singe storage device.
- CHANGED: ActiveSync can be re-activated using File | Properties, option "Activate ActiveSync for Transfer" (on by default) . When ticked, when the user does File | Sync/Prepare SD Card for Mobile Device, PocketFMS will ask if it should search for ActiveSync connected devices to install PocketFMS on. Still it's important that a PocketFMS-dedicated SD card is used!
- CHANGED: When PocketFMS MemStick version runs, and the message "PocketFMS can not be run from a removable storage device." is shown for some reason, PocketFMS now gives some more info to determine what caused the message to be displayed to help debug the problem.
- CHANGED: Version 1.2 XMLfile FlyingPocketPC.xml, PDA default editing template.xml, PocketPC ChkLst BigBut.xml, PocketPC ChkLst BigButton.xm and PocketPC ChkLst.xml are not valid anymore and will be deleted when PocketFMS desktop or Mobile is running.
- CHANGED: Memory stick support must explicitly be enabled first using File | Properties, 'Enable Memory Stick option' before PocketFMS will detect any memory sticks usable for preparation.
- CHANGED: Underlaid a new GPSBabel.exe: Changed so that in FlightPlan export to MapSource (GDB) format, NavAids & Australian VRP waypoint identifiers do not include the country code. All other exports keep the country code for now.
- CHANGED: On WM2003SE devices, PocketFMS would reboot the device on exit. This has been removed.
- CHANGED: Appn-Google Earth-Plan_TMG.hta has been updated to fixe an issue which occurred if the departure or arrival points in a Flight Plan did not have an elevation (eg. Placename) and the user requested the flight path to end at ground level. Now, when this occurs, the planned altitude is used to position the end of the flight path.
- FIXED: When entering an email address longer than 31 characters, PocketFMS would popup a message "parameter incorrect".
- FIXED: When the Mobile version was started on a PDA where the SIP (soft keyboard) button was visible (for example when doing Start -> programs (the bottom bar displays the SIP button), this SIP button was sitting in the way of PocketFMS during the entire session.
- FIXED: Tthe PocketFMS XML UI file had for the HP Hx4700 always a fixed COMPort of 7. It turned out this was not the case for many HP hx4700's, so it's been set to autodetect again.
- FIXED: When using activesync, an ActiveSync filehandle was used in a normal win32 call, leading to unexpected results like open files.
- FIXED: Appn-NAIPS Online Notification.exe complained about a missing ocx.
- FIXED: ExportFile-MultiFormat.hta .ert export was not working.
- IMPROVED: An updated version of Appn-NAIPS Online notification.exe that does not depend on mswinsck.ocx is included.
- IMPROVED: Mobile Device: when the message gets displayed the AeroData is out of date, it also now lists the Cycle ID it should be. This helps to determine what the clock is set to on the device.
- IMPROVED: When using black themes on a PDA, PocketFMS now displays certain text better visible instead of black text on black background.
- IMPROVED: PocketFMS XML FlightPlan docs now contain high-ASCII characters like the German Umlaut too. Up to now these characters where replaced by {x}.
- NEW: When using ActiveSync, PocketFMS will also create a PocketFMS start icon (shortcut) in Start -> Programs, for those devices that do not allow the Today screen modified (some Windows Mobile Smartphones with advanced today screens like some HTC's with TouchFlo.)
- NEW: Memory Stick crash protection. It is proven a small number of USB devices (often embedded card readers in laptops) can cause PocketFMS to crash on startup (more specifically, u3dapi10.dll from www.u3.com crashes). We have no control over this dll, and we need it to support to run PocketFMS on memory stick. When PocketFMS crashes on such a system, it leaves a tag in the registry (HKCU\Software\wad\pocketfms\Settings\u3dapi10dllCrashProtection, DWORD, non-zero value means do not use memstick support). Next time when PocketFMS starts on this system it will disable the memory stick support and post a message it has done so; at least the user can now continue and no longer crashes.

- FIXED: When emptying a longitude using the spacebar while adding a user waypoint, PocketFMS displayed N instead of E.
- IMPROVED : PAIM now accepts a single click on a label's text. This will open the PAIM's bigedit, and makes editing on a PDA/PND much easier since no double-click is needed anymore. This behaviour is controllable with APPEARANCE option SingleClickPAIM. If set to 1, a single click will open the bigedit, any other value will require a double-click to open the bigedit.
- IMPROVED: Navigon 8110 backlight brightness can be controlled.

- NEW: Navlog XML data now has a new tag AlternatePoint, which lists detailed info about alternate airports just like when airports are used as destination or arrival.
- NEW: A new function PrepareMemoryStick is created (Default File | Prepare for Memorystick Usage). When executed, PocketFMS will install itself after validation via the internet on a memorystick. By default only one memorystick per license is allowed.
- NEW: The currently selected breadcrumb file is stored in HKCU\Software\WAD\Settings\CurrentBreadcrumbfileBeingDisplayed.
- NEW: A new User Interface element is introduced, called STENCILBUTTON. A stencil button is "Stencilled" on the screen using a transparent-looking method and so creating a kind of "short-cut" option. The exact syntax is <STENCILBUTTON Function="ToggleStickyButtons" Image="Stencils\Menu104x52.bmp" Screen="MovingMapA" />. Since a full graphical screen is required for stencil buttons to work, allowed values for screen are currently MovingMapA, MovingMapB and CommsAndInfo. This new stencil button option has been used to create a menu, zoom in and zoom out button on the Moving Maps and a menu button on the CommsAndInfo window.

- NEW: Two new APPEARANCE options can pre-fill the GPS COMPort and baud rate: GPSCommPort and GPSBaudRate. Both can be "Auto Detect" (case sensitive!) or "COM1:" - "COMxx:" format for COMPort and a valid baud rate number for baud rate. Default values are "Auto Detect".
- NEW: A new APPEARANCE option GPSAutoStart is available. When set to 1 the GPS interface wil automatically start when PocketFMS starts. This is the default value.
- NEW: A new XML Tag DEVICESPECIFIC DEVICEOEMID="{<OEMDEVICEID>}" is available. DEVICEOEMID is the ID unique to each PND, and can be used to control specific settings for those specific devices. Currently it used to set correct baud rates and COMPorts for GPS interfaces, but basically should be able to control everything within the tag like StickyButtons etc. The OEMID used by a specific device can be found at the bottom of the startup EULA text. When using this, please put the OEMID between { and }. At the moment this is used to prefill correct GPS COMPorts and baud rates for known devices.
- NEW: In the Mobile version, GPS COMPort and baud rate settings have been moved to the advanced settings screen.
- NEW: A new function GPSMonitorOnMap is available. When enabled, a small GPS signal bar will be displayed top right of the Moving Map.
- NEW: A new function BatteryMonitorOnMap is available. When enabled, a small Battery Power signal bar will be displayed top right of the Moving Map.
- NEW: A multi-info Tool is available (which is now the default behavior for mouse clicks instead of panning). This tool gives loads of info on nearby objects and airspaces, allowing for "Shortcurts" to add to Fligh Plan, get info, etc.
- NEW: When exiting the memstick version, PocketFMS now displays a progress indicator for saving the regmirror files, to prevent too early extraction of the memstick.
- NEW: Ron created an Excel NavlogLs-Advanced A5.xls as Flight Doc definition.
- NEW: Subsequent search actions will start with the result of the previous search.
- NEW: The fligh plan XML data now has DetailedObjectInfo\ObstacleData\ObstacleIsMultipleObjects, DetailedObjectInfo\ObstacleData\ObstacleIsEquipedWithLights, DetailedObjectInfo\ObstacleData\ObstacleIsEquipedWithLights , DetailedObjectInfo\ObstacleData\ObstacleHeightAGLFt, DetailedObjectInfo\ObstacleData\ObstacleHeightAMSLFt in case waypointtype is an Obstacle.
- NEW: Besides Parameter DEVICEOEMID we can also use DEVICEPLATFORM to control XML menu's. On PDA's this value is {PocketPC}, on PNDs this varies widely with every make/model, and can be viewed at the bottom of the EULA screen.
- NEW: Help menu has a new entries "Help on flightplan views", "Help on External Tools" and "Visit our website for Instruction videos"
- NEW: PocketFMS now stores & reloads last used Stylus mode between sessions.
- NEW: APPEARANCE option WarningMessageScale is available, to scale the WarningMessage window and font just like the other scaling appearance parameters, PAIMInputScale.
- NEW: The SD Card method now supports PDAs too! When a prepared PocketFMS SD Card is inserted into a PDA or smartphone, a PocketFMS shortcut will be created in the Today screen. This shortcut will automatically be removed when the SD Card is removed.
- NEW: A new function DummyFunction exists, this does - you guested it - nothing and can be used to create a blank button.
- NEW: To control the PlotPlane symbol size, a new APPEARANCE option PlaneSymbolScale is available. Up to now this plane symbol size was controlled by MMObjectTextScale, but that's no longer the case.
- NEW: A whole bunch of Mio Moov Devices are now supported.
- NEW: New FlightDocDefs, ExternalTools and DisplaySettings are included from Ron.
- NEW: A new APPEARANCE option StencilButtonScale is available to control the size of stencil buttons.
- NEW: A new function ToggleStencilButton is available. This will display/hide all stencilbuttons, except for the one itself.

- NEW: A new help file UIHelp.chm is added to the installer, will be installed in \program files\pocketfms.
- NEW: A new help option Help | Help on User Interface adjustments is available in the Desktop version.
- NEW: Two new appearance options are available: StencilbuttonDaymodeTransparency and StencilbuttonNightmodeTransparency. These can have a value between -255 (solid black) and 255 (solid white) to sharpen the visibility of stencil butttons. Default for day mode is -60 (minus 60), default for night mode is 60.
- NEW: A new executable called PocketFMSinet.exe is now shipped with PocketFMS, and located in ceEXE\genericwince where PocketFMS.exe also resides. This executable depends on winnet to download data through internet. PocketFMSLauncher.exe is adjusted so it detects whether a device/PND has wininet installed, if so, it launches pocketfmsinet.exe, otherwise it launches pocketfms.exe. The startup license text of pocketfms also displays wether or not wininet support is available. Result in general will be that PDAs will load PocketFMSinet.exe, whereas PocketFMS.exe gets loaded by PNDs.
- NEW: Flight plan XML file has a new item "RouteStringLatLon". This gives the routestring, but now only using lat/lon coords.
- NEW: When preparing a memstick, PocketFMS will also put a "StartPocketFMS.exe" in the root of that memstick. When the autorun/autoplay fails, a user can always use this StartPocketFMS.exe to start PocketFMS.

Version 1.2.0, Internet released 14NOV2008. | [Top] |
|
|
ATTENTION: Aircraft data will get converted to a new format in this release. If you have added or modified aircraft definitions, please make sure you have a backup copy of airplanes.gpsdat before you install version 1.2.0 or higher!
- CHANGED: Because the [NavLog] button in the Desktop version now is much more than just a NavLog (like e.g. flight notification forms etc), its name was changed to [Docs].
- CHANGED: RNAV position defintions with 360 as radial now use radial 000 instead.
- CHANGED: When the option 'Auto-adjust planned altitude in case ROC/ROD is too high' is unticked, PocketFMS now no longer adjusts the planned altitude in case of descend to an arrival. Keep in mind TOD markers and indications in these situations are unreliable.
- CHANGED: Instead of <my documents>\PocketFMS\definitions\navlogs PocketFMS now uses <my documents>\PocketFMS\definitions\FlightDocDefs as source directory for NavLog forms etc.
- CHANGED:Instead of <my documents>\pocketfms\navlog to output generated flight documents like navlogs, PocketFMS now uses <my documents>\pocketfms\GeneratedFlightDocs.
- CHANGED: When enabling the GPS, during the GPS initialisation phase PocketFMS will now *always* log the serial trace to serialinput.txt and stop doing so when a valid GPS Receiver is found.
- CHANGED: NEMERIX GPS units (found in for example Navigon 21xx systems) are now programmed by PocketFMS to send the correct and required NMEA messages.
- FIXED: On the PDA & PND versions, visibility units were not kept during sessions.
- FIXED: The Default Editing template for the Windows version did not contain the 'Sync SD Card / ActiveSync PDA' options in the File menu.
- FIXED: Rubberbanding on some occasions did not reset the jumpback timer, resulting in annoying jumping back to PlotPlane position while rubberbanding.
- FIXED: With a Flight Plan loaded, then downloading WX data, then trying to switch screen could cause PocketFMS to run into a more or less endless loop if the Flight Plan had a fairly large number of legs.
- IMPROVED: The setup tutorial wizard had a few changes.
- IMPROVED: Runway dimensions can now be displayed either in meters or feet (File | Properties, Units tab).
- IMPROVED: Flight plan data is now stored in XML format. You can now design your own NavLog forms!
- IMPROVED: When pressing the [Docs] button, PocketFMS shows a list of all files found in <my documents>\pocketfms\definitions\navlog, except files of type .css. Depending on the extention (for example xls) PocketFMS launches the correct application to have the data viewed. For example, if the user selects an .xls file, PocketFMS will launch Excel in that case. By using for example custom Excel code (already included in the xls samples of PocketFMS) the newly opened file gets updated with the correct data. W&B data is also dumped, so you can create detailed W&B reports now too.
- IMPROVED: Various users report problems closing the Information Window for airspaces and objects because the top-right X is missing. This X is now added, but when pressed a message pops up explaining it's more convenient to just tap the center of the Information Window.
- IMPROVED: Descent profiling now - most of the time - prevents EOD/TOD combined markers on waypoints during a descend to arrival.
- NEW: File | Properties, Flightplanning Options tab now allows for a user name, tel & fax input, to be used on flight plan forms.
- NEW: PocketFMS can now print ATC flight plan forms based on your planned trip.
- NEW: File | Select Aircraft has a new option 'reserve fuel'.
- NEW: A new button [FP Data] is now available via File | Select Aircraft. It allows for the use of additional aircraft information like endurance, colors etc. for flight plan form use.
- NEW: Basic functionality was created to support the use of checklists in PocketFMS.
- NEW: Airplane specs now allow the enter a percentage contingency fuel.
- NEW: When the Info (I) button is pressed on a LIB, a RNAV info is displayed. A click on the RNAV text will display the LIB's latitude & longitude.
- NEW: The new international TAF time format has been implemented.
- NEW: A new function FPRESETWIND is available. When executed, PocketFMS takes the wind from the first LIB and copies that to all the other LIBs. A shortcut button [Rst W/V] is always available in the flight plan window.

Version 1.1.1, Work in progress, updated 20JUN2008. | [Top] |
|
- NOT RELEASED: Used only for internal testing by the Beta Crew.
|
| |
Version 1.1.0, Internet released 17JUN2008. | [Top] |
|
- CHANGED: The RotateScreen function rotates 0/90/180/270. A new function CounterRotateScreenCEDevice has been implemented for the PND version.
- CHANGED: A custom-made file selection picker has been created, and we now no longer use the default FilePicker Dialog provided by Windows (CE). As basis was the XML selector used, so that one looks a bit different now too. All this results in much easier flight plan loading.
- CHANGED: On a low res PND the leg descriptions when doing Edit Leg were unreadable because they condered always 3 lines available. This has been changed to 2 lines available.
- CHANGED: The text "Please resync your PDA to have the new selection take effect. Or" has been changed into "Please resync your PDA to have the new selection take effect. Or, if you use the SD Card transfer, use that to update the SD Card for your mobile device." after the user has selected a new mobile interface file.
- CHANGED: Various text references to "CarNav" and "navigation device" have been changed into "Mobile Device".
- CHANGED: In File | Properties three references to "Pocket PC" and "PDA" have been changed into "Mobile Device".
- CHANGED: The [Advanced settings] button on the PDA/PND settings screen has been removed and is now activated by the [PageOpt] button.
- CHANGED: File | Select Mobile Interface file, "PocketFMS PDA Default" has been changed to "PocketFMS Mobile Device Default".
- CHANGED: The PND version no longer refreshes the Moving Map on every GPS NMEA message received. This relaxes the system more, and should prevent obscured Moving Maps after an Airspace or Obstacle Warning message. The PND version now simply refreshes once every 1 second. If a user wants to influence this, an APPEARANCE option PNDGPSInterval is available. Value is in milliseconds, gives the time between refreshes. A value of 1000 for example refreshes the map every second, a value of 500ms refreshes the map every half second.
- NEW: Introduced support for selected CE-based Car Navigation (CarNav) devices. For this, the install now creates a new folder on the PC \Program Files\PocketFMS\ceEXE\GenericWinCE. This folder contains everything needed for the PocketFMS PND version.
- NEW: When preparing an SD Card for PND use, the PC settings now get transferred to the PND using so-called ".pfmsregmirror" files. When leaving the PageOpt on the Settings screen, PocketFMS flushes all regsettings to regmirror files as well as an intermediate checkpoint. On the very first occurance of a 3D fix of the GPS, PocketFMS flushes all regsettings to regmirror files too as an intermediate checkpoint so in case a user does not exit PocketFMS gracefully, still a lot of settings are saved.
- NEW: PocketFMS can now build its Moving Maps 'multi-threaded', meaning you will be staring at a white 'Zooming In/Out' page much shorter. First the Roads & Rivers maps are displayed, and progressively more and more details are overlaid. While still building, the top-left boxes (zoomlevel & scale) have a red background which will turn white once the map build is complete.
- NEW: A new Appearance parameter "MultiThreadedBuildDisplay" was introduced to enable or disable the multi-threaded display.
- NEW: The default windows template and editing template have a new option <MENUELEMENT Function="SetupGenericWinCE" Text="Prepare PNA system" />. When a user runs this, a PNA system gets prepared.
- NEW: A new function "RotateScreenCEDevice" is implemented. This rotates the screen, and works *only* on the PND version.
- NEW: Two new functions "IncreaseBacklight" and "DecreaseBacklight" have been implemented. These will however function for a very limited though growing number of PDA & CarNav devices due to hardware issues.
- NEW: For the PND and PDA version 4 new functions are available: ShowFPPageOptions, ShowMMAPageOptions, ShowMMBPageOptions and ShowWindCalcPageOptions.
- NEW: New map objects for VOR, NDB, User objects and DME have been implemented.
- NEW: A new APPEARANCE option SmartFPSaving is available on all platforms. When set to 1, PocketFMS will create smart file names for Flight Plans and save them without any user intervention. The Load Flight Plan will be then be "rough-air" compliant as well. When you leave this value to 0, the standard Windows File Save and File Open Dialogs are used.
- NEW: A new APPEARANCE option ExcludeStickyButtonsFromMovingMapArea is available. When 1, the MM shrinks in width when the StickyButtons are enabled in landscape mode so still a full MM is visible. On the PND this is by default 1 now, PDA is default 0.
- NEW: A menu option "Sync with PDA using ActiveSync" has been put in the File menu to be consistent with the "Prepare SD Card for Mobile Device" menu option.
- NEW: When running the PureCE version on a Windows Mobile 5.0 or higher PDA with VGA capabilities, full VGA support is implemented.
- NEW: The monitor screen now contains a battery level indication.
- NEW: A new APPEARANCE option StickyButtonTextAlignment is available. This applies to the dynamic SstickyButtons, and when 0 text will be aligned based on left/right side of the screen, 1 = Always left aligned, 2 = always right aligned, 3 = always centered.
- NEW: A few shortcuts to PocketFMS pages are created in the Start | Programs | PocketFMS group.
- NEW: A new function ShowAdvancedSettingsOptions to enable the General settings options page was implemented.
- NEW: Route files (.ert / Flightplan files) for MGL equipment are now created when a Flight Plan is saved.
- FIXED: NDB frequencies were not displayed at zoomlevels 5-10.
- FIXED: On the PDA the Zaon interface did not display the climb/descend arrow correctly.
- FIXED: The "Select Mobile interface" and "Select Interface" dialogs could highlight the wrong file as being the currently selected one.
- FIXED: If a time calculation resulted in past 24hrs, the PAIM would leave it untouched (for example 25:12 instead of 01:12).
- FIXED: When activating the Altitude Analysis window, the wrong Moving Map was reactivated.
- FIXED: There was a resource leak of 4K on each screen refresh when WX data was enabled. This may have been the case since v66.
- FIXED: Advanced settings tab, Tab control was not painted up to the top.
- FIXED: When the total number of Own Charts added with the number of buttons already used by other functions exceeded 200, when selecting "Own Charts" would popup all airports with own charts as it should. But then when selecting an airport from that list would result in an empty menu.
- FIXED: Unit changes where not executed to Aircraft defination window.
- FIXED: The functions "LoadFlightPlan" and "SaveFlightPlan" did not have any code associated.
- FIXED: FPPageOpt, MMA PageOpt, MMB PageOpt and WindCalc PageOpt now correctly set tickmarks in the Stickybuttons.
- FIXED: The EULA text was garbled when scrolling due to a common control bug in WinCE.
- FIXED: When airspace hatching was set to 0, the given airspace would not be painted even if the line width was not zero.
- FIXED: The VFR approach chart as well as File | Print current map did not produce a map anymore.
- FIXED: When calling W&B In the Aircraft selection with a Flight Plan open, exiting the W&B took some time. This was caused because PocketFMS incorrectly considered values changed and recalculated the Flight Plan.
- FIXED: When using Moving Map PageOpt to set Rel or Abs terrain, a zoom was required before it was activated.
- FIXED: When using ObjectInfo, when the object's text needed a scrollbar, lines that had to break across multiple lines lost there last few characters because they where printed underneath the scrollbar.
- IMPROVED: VORs, NDBs and user symbols are now no longer part of the background map so they look a lot better with track up.
- IMPROVED: The CommandBar interface has been totally rewritten to get rid of a lot of problems like disappearing windows etc. The CommandBar text quality in portrait mode has been improved.
- IMPROVED: Changes were made to prevent the HP310 from crashing due to the size of the display backbuffer.
- IMPROVED: Up to now PocketFMS did the scaling on the most restricting one, either horizontal or vertical. This resulted in crappy screens where often text was cut-off etc. Now both width and height are scaled independently of each other.
- IMPROVED: MM Settings Page on the PND and PNA now display a B in front of the zoomlevel indicator in case it appplies to Map B.
- IMPROVED: When the PND/PDA version detects a database cycle larger than based on the current date, it prompts a message the system clock might be wrong.
- IMPROVED: New graphics for NDB, VOR, User, TACAN and VORTAC have been implemented.
- IMPROVED: The scaling of Flight Plan LIBs is much improved so it now recognises when able to use more than 2 LIB on a screen (for example Mio in portrait mode).
- IMPROVED: Some devices were about twice as slow painting the map with GPS on than with GPS off. PocketFMS now put the GPS stream on hold during map painting. This improves drawing performance a lot on some devices, most noticable on the HP314.
- IMPROVED: Both the PDA sync as the PND sync now warn if a map rebuild is required that it might take up to 20 minutes.
