Medion 40600 PDA + RGM-2000 GPS.
Many complain about the incapacity to get navigation software running on the Medion 40600 PDA with RGM-2000 GPS Mouse, as sold by Aldi. Despite the fact that the specifications of the RGM-2000 antenna post that 4 types of NMEA messages are received (GGA, GSA, GSV and RMC), tracing shows that only two messages are received (GGA and GSV). Most navigation software however needs at least the RMC message! As the standard factory settings of the Medion Navigation package do not forward the RMC message to the PDA, this will automatically result in failure of other navigation software.
There is good news! Those factory settings can easily be changed with the WinFast Navigation software available for the PDA, which is available as a free download. Just click here to get WinFast Navigator (2.3 MB), after that follow all steps below. If you're a Windows Mobile 2005 user experiencing troubles with WinFast, you can also use GPSTweak (22 kB) which offers similar functionality..
| WARNING! | Executing the following instructions is on your own responsibility! Making the wrong settings, or changing them to incorrect values can render your GPS receiver useless. Although you cannot physically break your GPS receiver you can effectively make it appear as if it's not responding. Trying to get it out of this state is complex, so do not stray from these instructions! More info can also be found on the aforementioned website. |

If you followed all above steps correctly, PocketFMS and any other navigation software should now work successfully.
