Bluetooth registry tweak.

Is your Bluetooth connection severed often? Do you need to soft-reset your PDA to even be capable of reconnecting to your GPS or starting Bluetooth Manager? Here's a tiny tweak for you that'll most likely solve these problems. If you're a genuine CM, the link on the left provides a step-by-step forum item for this tweak.

WARNING!

Executing the following instructions is on your own responsibility! Making the wrong settings, or changing them to incorrect values can render your PDA useless until it's hard-reset. This may cause you loss of data.

  1. Get yourself a Pocket OS registry editor. If you Google for "Kilmist Registry" you'll find a 7 day trial that'll do the job.
  2. After installation, navigate it to \HKLM\Software\Widcomm\BtConfig\AutoConnect\0008. 0008 might be another number, it's a reference to your Bluetooth COMport's number.
  3. Under 0008, create a new DWORD key called BtBrowserEnabled, and give it the value 0 (zero).
  4. Close the registry editor and soft-reset your PDA.
  5. Open the Bluetooth Manager and connect to your GPS receiver. If all goes well that should have been the last time.
  6. Start PocketFMS and press the Enable GPS button.

If you followed all above steps correctly, PocketFMS and any other navigation software should now work successfully. Future PocketFMS use has just become quite a bit simpler:

  1. Power on your PDA,
  2. Switch Bluetooth on,
  3. Start PocketFMS, and
  4. Press Enable GPS.

Even switching your GPS receiver off and back on again doesn't break the connection; simply move to the PocketFMS Settings page and press the Enable GPS button!
