TechBulletins.

If at first some hardware seems incompatible with PocketFMS, or you're experiencing conflicts between PocketFMS and other software, this is the place to check. Others may have suffered the same problem, and have found a solution. These solutions are placed here, showing you how to get your own setup going. Also helpful tips and methods may be explained here.

TechBulletins list.

1. TomTom Navigator     Many users reported problems about PocketFMS not working with TomTom Navigator, especially their Bluetooth solution. This really drove us nuts, and thanks to some very helpful people we got a hang of the solution. Thomas Borchert finally found how to solve it. Follow the link on the left and read how!

2. Royaltec RGM-2000 GPS Mouse receiver     This receiver has been sold (and still sells a lot) together with the Aldi / Medion PDA. This receiver (or at least the version sold together with the Medion PDA) by default only sends the NMEA $VTG message, which is not sufficient for many GPS applications including PocketFMS. This solution describes how to reprogram the receiver to output all required messages ($GPRMC, $GPGGA, $GPGSV and $GPGSA) and their frequencies. Works not only with the RGM-2000, but with many receivers equipped with a SiRF chipset! With special thanks to Peter Beeckman who wrote the solution for this problem. Click the link on the left to read more.

3. The Bluetooth Radio failed to turn ON due to Insufficient driver memory available     Especially in Pocket PC 2003 the Bluetooth Manager has been equipped with a lot of extra options like File Transfer, Audio Gateway and so on. If you go to Bluetooth settings and disable all services except for the Bluetooth serial port, a lot more driver memory will be available. Furthermore it's best to turn the Bluetooth radio on (and sometimes to connect to the GPS, config dependant). Once this error has occurred, a soft reset must be performed to regain the use of Bluetooth.

4. The Bluetooth connection is frequently broken and requires frequent reconnecting     A little tweak is available for this, and has produced good results in most of the cases. It involves making a tiny modification to you PDA's registry. This is not without risk; if you don't exactly know what you're doing, then don't do it. In the worst case a hard reset might be required to get your PDA to life again. If you'd like to try, follow the link on the left!

5. Improving self-scanned (UMN Stage 1) Charts Get this TechBulletin as a PDF file.   Our now retired Graphics General Bernd Seeger has created a brief tutorial on how to produce the best possible quality of self-scanned charts for use with PocketFMS.

6. I can't see the Help file topics.     On some systems, the Help file topics can not be viewed. This is caused by a little Microsoft bug, and is easily solved.
