Version 0.9.69v9, Not yet Internet released.
|
- CHANGED: The RotateScreen function rotates 0/90/180/270. A new function CounterRotateScreenCEDevice has been implemented for the PND version.
- CHANGED: A custom-made file selection picker has been created, and we now no longer use the default FilePicker Dialog provided by Windows (CE). As basis was the XML selector used, so that one looks a bit different now too. All this results in much easier flight plan loading.
- CHANGED: On a low res PND the leg descriptions when doing Edit Leg were unreadable because they condered always 3 lines available. This has been changed to 2 lines available.
- CHANGED: The text "Please resync your PDA to have the new selection take effect. Or" has been changed into "Please resync your PDA to have the new selection take effect. Or, if you use the SD Card transfer, use that to update the SD Card for your mobile device." after the user has selected a new mobile interface file.
- CHANGED:
Various text references to "CarNav" and "navigation device" have been changed into "Mobile Device".
- CHANGED: In File | Properties three references to "Pocket PC" and "PDA" have been changed into "Mobile Device".
- CHANGED: The [Advanced settings] button on the PDA/PND settings screen has been removed and is now activated by the [PageOpt] button.
- NEW: Introduced support for selected CE-based Car Navigation (CarNav) devices. For this, the install now creates a new folder on the PC \Program Files\PocketFMS\ceEXE\GenericWinCE. This folder contains everything needed for the PocketFMS PND version.
- NEW: When preparing an SD Card for PND use, the PC settings now get transferred to the PND using so-called ".pfmsregmirror" files. When leaving the PageOpt on the Settings screen, PocketFMS flushes all regsettings to regmirror files as well as an intermediate checkpoint. On the very first occurance of a 3D fix of the GPS, PocketFMS flushes all regsettings to regmirror files too as an intermediate checkpoint so in case a user does not exit PocketFMS gracefully, still a lot of settings are saved.
- NEW: PocketFMS can now build its Moving Maps 'multi-threaded', meaning you will be staring at a white 'Zooming In/Out' page much shorter. First the Roads & Rivers maps are displayed, and progressively more and more details are overlaid. While still building, the top-left boxes (zoomlevel & scale) have a red background which will turn white once the map build is complete.
- NEW: A new Appearance parameter "MultiThreadedBuildDisplay" was introduced to enable or disable the multi-threaded display.
- NEW: The default windows template and editing template have a new option <MENUELEMENT Function="SetupGenericWinCE" Text="Prepare PNA system" />. When a user runs this, a PNA system gets prepared.
- NEW: A new function "RotateScreenCEDevice" is implemented. This rotates the screen, and works *only* on the PND version.
- NEW: Two new functions "IncreaseBacklight" and "DecreaseBacklight" have been implemented. These will however function for a very limited though growing number of PDA & CarNav devices due to hardware issues.
- NEW: For the PND and PDA version 4 new functions are available: ShowFPPageOptions, ShowMMAPageOptions, ShowMMBPageOptions and ShowWindCalcPageOptions.
- NEW: New map objects for VOR, NDB, User objects and DME have been implemented.
- NEW: A new APPEARANCE option SmartFPSaving is available on all platforms. When set to 1, PocketFMS will create smart file names for flight plans and save them without any user intervention. The Load Flight Plan will be then be "rough-air" compliant as well. When you leave this value to 0, the standard Windows File Save and File Open Dialogs are used.
- NEW: A new APPEARANCE option ExcludeStickyButtonsFromMovingMapArea is available. When 1, the MM shrinks in width when the StickyButtons are enabled in landscape mode so still a full MM is visible. On the PND this is by default 1 now, PDA is default 0.
- NEW: A menu option "Sync with PDA using ActiveSync" has been put in the File menu to be consistent with the "Prepare SD Card for Mobile Device" menu option.
- NEW: When running the PureCE version on a Windows Mobile 5.0 or higher PDA with VGA capabilities, full VGA support is implemented.
- FIXED: NDB frequencies were not displayed at zoomlevels 5-10.
- FIXED: On the PDA the Zaon interface did not display the climb/descend arrow correctly.
- FIXED: The "Select Mobile interface" and "Select Interface" dialogs could highlight the wrong file as being the currently selected one.
- FIXED: If a time calculation resulted in past 24hrs, the PAIM would leave it untouched (for example 25:12 instead of 01:12).
- FIXED: When activating the Altitude Analysis window, the wrong Moving Map was reactivated.
- FIXED: There was a resource leak of 4K on each screen refresh when WX data was enabled. This may have been the case since v66.
- FIXED: Advanced settings tab, Tab control was not painted up to the top.
- FIXED: When the total number of Own Charts added with the number of buttons already used by other functions exceeded 200, when selecting "Own Charts" would popup all airports with own charts as it should. But then when selecting an airport from that list would result in an empty menu.
- FIXED: Unit changes where not executed to Aircraft defination window.
- FIXED: The functions "LoadFlightPlan" and "SaveFlightPlan" did not have any code associated.
- FIXED: FPPageOpt, MMA PageOpt, MMB PageOpt and WindCalc PageOpt now correctly set tickmarks in the Stickybuttons.
- FIXED: The EULA text was garbled when scrolling due to a common control bug in WinCE.
- FIXED: When airspace hatching was set to 0, the given airspace would not be painted even if the line width was not zero.
- FIXED: The VFR approach chart as well as File | Print current map did not produce a map anymore.
- IMPROVED: VORs, NDBs and user symbols are now no longer part of the background map so they look a lot better with track up.
- IMPROVED: The CommandBar interface has been totally rewritten to get rid of a lot of problems like disappearing windows etc. The CommandBar text quality in portrait mode has been improved.
- IMPROVED: Changes were made to prevent the HP310 from crashing due to the size of the display backbuffer.
- IMPROVED: Up to now PocketFMS did the scaling on the most restricting one, either horizontal or vertical. This resulted in crappy screens where often text was cut-off etc. Now both width and height are scaled independently of each other.
- IMPROVED: MM Settings Page on the PND and PNA now display a B in front of the zoomlevel indicator in case it appplies to Map B.
- IMPROVED: When the PND/PDA version detects a database cycle larger than based on the current date, it prompts a message the system clock might be wrong.
- IMPROVED: New graphics for NDB, VOR, User, TACAN and VORTAC have been implemented.
- IMPROVED: The scaling of Flight Plan LIBs is much improved so it now recognises when able to use more than 2 LIB on a screen (for example Mio in portrait mode).

Version 0.9.68, Internet released 13MAR2008.
|
- CHANGED: Now *all* (and not only a subset of ) the airspace types, airspace classes and SUAS airspaces can have a penwidth of 0 to hide them from the Moving Maps, if wanted.
- CHANGED: The button [Flight Plan] in the Object Information window has been renamed to [Append Flight Plan]. If you click it, the object will be added as last leg in the current flight plan.
- CHANGED: "Add Waypoint" caption is changed into "Add object" when adding a user object.
- CHANGED: Rubberbanding (the dragging and dropping of a TrackLine) will now work regardless of the Stylus Mode setting.
- CHANGED: GPS status mode in PocketFMS Desktop now defaults to 'No fix' instead of the simulated '3D fix'.
- CHANGED: The Desktop version has been made single instance, meaning only one instance of PocketFMS can be run at a time on the PC.
- CHANGED: The message "Allow wind vectors from METARs/TAFs" when loading a Flight Plan is changed to "Allow wind vectors from forecasts".
- CHANGED: The trial expiration reminder window's text has been changed according to Ron's proposal. It will now not pop up until 15 days before the trial period ends.
- CHANGED: Goto Nearest now only shows the 'FP Legs' option if a flight plan is active.
- CHANGED: Goto Nearest now checks if for specific objects (airports, VORs etc.) at least 1 item exists in a range of 5 degrees lat/long. If not, the Goto Nearest option for that object type will not be created.
- CHANGED: In the EULA, 'Workstation' has been changed to 'Desktop'.
- CHANGED: The setup wizard step 7 has additional wordings about the stickymenu.
- CHANGED: New icons for the EFB menu, Moving Maps A and B have been created & implemented.
- CHANGED: ShortInfo text for user objects now no longer displays "General User Defined POI", but just the shortname. Also, if no fullname is known, PocketFMS will no longer display the text "Fullname".
- CHANGED: When making a choice in the Goto nearest menu, PocketFMS will close the the Goto Nearest window immediately.
- CHANGED: In the Aircraft definition the text 'fuel p/r' is changed in 'fuel/hr'. The Aircraft window was titled 'Airplane', changed to 'Aircraft'.
- CHANGED: On the PDA, Comms & Info page, ATIS AWIS now gets printed on two lines.
- CHANGED: PocketFMS will now ask "Are you sure to exit PocketFMS" when a user selects "Exit PocketFMS".
- CHANGED: The text "Do you want to use this to store your GPS data" is changed in "Do you want to use this to store your PocketFMS data" when syncing a PDA.
- CHANGED: The plane color is now blue on the Desktop Version when no GPS is connected to indicate PocketFMS is in "simulation mode".
- CHANGED: If a VOR has no channel data, PocketFMS will no longer display "CH" in the Goto nearest options for VORs.
- CHANGED: In the Subscription Reminder Window the [OK] button is renamed to [Verify subscription] to better indicate what it does. It's now also always enabled so in case of trouble a user can always have PocketFMS verify its subscription status.
- CHANGED: Breadcrumb painting is an advanced routine to prevent long painting times. For the Desktop version, as long as the GPS is not enabled, it will always paint the full breadcrumb file no matter how long it takes.
- CHANGED: The default PDA Storage memory limit has been raised from 110MB to 500MB.
- CHANGED: The FIR Selection and AeroData download steps in the Setup Wizard are now compulsory, a user cannot continue without completing these first.
- CHANGED: On various places the term 'serial number' has been replaced by 'Registration number'.
- CHANGED: Airspace Info texts now give the ICAO code of the airspace in case of a FIR, because they are often needed in flight plan filing (in Europe), and there was no way except File | Select FIRs to get the ICAO code for a FIR.
- FIXED: AWS, OWS, TN/TT Up and TrackLine were not Moving Map A / B independant.
- FIXED: If the current leg was to an object with a long name, the Flight Plan info text on the Moving Maps got obscured.
- FIXED: PocketFMS sometimes crashed when toggling the GPS on & off rapidly. This has (partly) been fixed, some software based COMPorts (Bluetooth, softwarebased serialloops) are still giving problems because some don't listen at all to the time-outs specified, and simply cannot be shutdown nicely.
- FIXED: It was possible to create a black Moving Map screen by unselecting Arc/Rose modes.
- FIXED: The trial & subscription checks were done *after* the start of the First Use Wizard. This means that if somebody never completed this wizard, he'd get the message that his trial has ended only during the wizard.
- FIXED: If for a LIB the OBS was active for a runway and the user changed runways, the OBS was left at 0/0.
- FIXED: PocketFMS allowed to rubberband to an obstacle, causing all kinds of problems like blank LIBs, problems loading FPs etc.
- FIXED: OBS/VAP to non-runways with an angle less than 45 degrees were not created properly.
- FIXED: When opening a Flight Plan with a LIB as early descend, the name box did not get shaded.
- FIXED: When an OBS was set on a non-runway, the alghorithm for trying to detect an early descend would loop forever between three LIBs if no solution could be found.
- FIXED: On the PDA the GPS on/off did not display the actual GPS state correctly.
- FIXED: ILS text on Moving Map B was not displayed correctly. The font data did not get initialized.
- FIXED: When not enough objects were found to fill an entire Goto Nearest Page (most common with user objects) PocketFMS would do "weird" things like duplicating entries etc.
- FIXED: When a flight plan had a modified starting point and later all the LIBs were deleted so no LIBs were available, PocketFMS would reset the starting point of the flight plan to the nearest location.
- FIXED: When HSI color settings were pure black (for example the circle), it would not display on the Moving Map because internally PocketFMS used black as transparency color.
- FIXED: FilterAirports state was not saved between PocketFMS sessions.
- FIXED: Some altitude profiling issues with overflying airports have been fixed.
- FIXED: Various typo's have been removed.
- FIXED: If a PocketFMS session was started with the map TT up, and the map stayed TT up during the whole session, and WX was enabled, and METARTAF depiction was on, on every refresh PocketFMS would do a full screen rebuild like as with zooming. This takes a significant amount of time, and could render the PDA seemingly useless.
- IMPROVED: The HSI visibility has been improved by adding outlines to the deviation needle, shortening it, and splitting the deviation needle into 3 parts where only the middle part moves.
- IMPROVED: On the PC, the trial user had to press 'Cancel' each time to continue using PocketFMS. This was found to be very confusing, this is now changed to 'Continue trial'.
- IMPROVED: Menu option File | Properties now displays scrollbars if needed. If the PocketFMS window size is sufficient to display the entire Properties window, no scrollbars will be displayed.
- IMPROVED: The Comms & Info window was very 'power hungry', very noticable on slower UMPC's.
- IMPROVED: The Information windows now shade the upper, middle and lower part of the window differently to indicate the areas for scroll up/down & close window.
- IMPROVED: The GPS serial interface now checks the input queue size, and if it exceeds 1000 bytes it clears it ASAP to make room for new input and prevent lagging of the Moving Map displays.
- IMPROVED: The VFR Approach chart displayed only the first 4 characters of the airfield's code. For many non-ICAO fields this was not sufficient.
- IMPROVED: The font size used to display the map scale now auto-adjusts to the scalebar width to prevent obscured text.
- IMPROVED: The display area in the PAIM has been extended a few chars to use the available space.
- IMPROVED: VFR Approach chart now lists a left-justified "Data last updated" in front of the cycle date.
- IMPROVED: The Comms & Info section for airports and ATIS/AWOS updated its screen with every GPS update. Since updating involves a lot of searching, this caused quite a performance drain, noticable most on slow UMPC's with both Moving Map and Comms & Info active. The new update frequency is now once every 15 seconds, or if the heading changes more than 20 degrees from the heading as when it was when last calculated. When the PlotPlane gets relocated the Comms & Info window gets repainted immediately instead of after a delay of 15 seconds.
- IMPROVED: Comms & Info, ARPT option now only lists airports with a bearing between -90 and +90, and uses the Goto Nearest color coding for non-suitable and emergency airports.
- IMPROVED: The margin used by PocketFMS to determine if a user grabbed the TT-Line for rubberbanding has been made much more sensitive. This allows for more precise operations near the TT-Line that are not TT-Line related.
- IMPROVED: When during downloading of WX data an error occurrs, not only the error number but also the error description is reported.
- IMPROVED: The GPS interface for both the PC and PDA now supports baudrate 115200 too.
- NEW: PocketFMS now supports the FLARM traffic detection unit. The FLARM unit is used as a GPS receiver, and the additional FLARM alarm messages are automatically processed as well. As a bonus, other FLARM-equipped aircraft that are detected will be displayed on the Moving Map with a white plane symbol and showing their heading and relative altitude. Properties can be set in File | Properties, FLARM tab.
- NEW: A ZAON TCAS interface has been created. The ZAON unit picks up transponder signals from other traffic in the vicinity. Like with the FLARM option mentioned earlier, this traffic is plotted on the Moving Maps. ZAON properties can be set in File | Properties, ZAON tab.
- NEW: PocketFMS can now export its AeroData (including airspaces, airports, runways, frequencies, etc.) to Stratomaster Engima (see also the US dealer, and the European dealer) devices. If you have a valid PocketFMS subscription, you can now update your glass cockpit's database as often as you like at no additional costs. MGL Export is only available when not running as a trial.
- NEW: The entire User Interface can now be modified to your liking. The UI appearance is now determined by an XML file in the \Program Files\PocketFMS folder. This mechanism will also allow you to define your device's hardware buttons, as well as to translate the UI in your own language or leave out functionality you don't use. Multiple definitions can be used and selected from within PocketFMS Desktop.
- NEW: As a part of the new User Interface, a NavPointer mode has been added so that PocketFMS can be controlled with keys only (either hardware buttons or on-screen buttons). When in NavPointer mode, you can manouver the NavPointer to a location on the Moving Map and then hit [Enter]. An on-screen menu will be built, with the buttons [Object Info], [Airspace Info] and [WX Info]. When you select one of these, all objects that are close to the NavPointer's location are listed as buttons with a short description. If you then click one of these, the large information window for that object will be shown.
- NEW: The Objects Information window now has a button labelled [DirectTo]. When this button is clicked, a Flight Plan direct to the selected object is created.
- NEW: PocketFMS Desktop now has a GPS monitor toolbar. This toolbar displays status information regarding GPS reception.
- NEW: The Desktop version now always tries to use ClearType fonts if available.
- NEW: Under File | Select Interface, options have been added to allow selection of the User Interface that PocketFMS will use. Changing a UI requires a PocketFMS restart. Under File | Select Mobile Interface device a user can now select a User Interface definition file for the PDA.
- NEW: Search option now has [Add to Flight Plan] as option.
- NEW: The ATIS option in Comms & Info now also displays CTAF.
- NEW: Search has now [Insert FP] and [Object Info] options.
- NEW: The Comms & Info window has a fifth button called [ARPT]. It will list all nearby airports including Comms.
- NEW: The Comms & Info window now displays a directional arrow in front of each line for ATIS/AWOS and ARPT to quickly identify where the object is located relative to the current track.
- NEW: PocketFMS now remembers the zoomlevel that was selected when exiting PocketFMS, and will start on that zoomlevel again next time PocketFMS is started.
- NEW: When doing Search, then Download & View WX data", if there is no data found PocketFMS will now display a message. It will also update the Moving Map screen with TAF & METAR depiction circles if applicable.
- NEW: To view the current subscription/trial status, a new menu option Help | Subscription/Trial info has been created.
- NEW: PocketFMS now has the option to send out $PGRMH messages when autopilot is enabled.
- NEW: The ObjectInfo window now has an [Insert Flight Plan] button.
- NEW: The PDA version now displays a startup screen during start-up.
- NEW: Under File | Help a new item 'Visit our forum for support' has been created.
- NEW: A new airport symbol is possible for "other airfields" (See this forum topic). PocketFMS uses this symbol if an airfield has no clasification at all (PPR, Emergency, ULM etc), *and* no runway information is available for this airfield.

Version 0.9.67, Internet released 22JUN2007.
|
- FIXED: Often when an NDB or VOR was used in a flight plan, when activating the Info display for that LIB, the frequency was displayed malformed.
- FIXED: When Relative or Absolute terrain was active, when a user activated an Own Chart, often the color palette overflowed, causing PocketFMS to crash.
- FIXED: Switching Day / Night mode often did not have an immediate effect, often a number of zoomlevel changes were required to reset the image cache.
- FIXED: Breadcrumbs were often not painted in the color specified in File | Properties, Objects tab.
- FIXED: Users who downloaded the Installer Packs from our website can get the message "file ..... is unusable on your system" on the PDA after they synced.
- FIXED: When European WX Radar images were used on a PDA with a narrowband internet connection (GPRS etc), the downloaded image was a 16 color version instead of a 256 color version. PocketFMS couldn't handle this kind of graphics, hence the radar overlay was not displayed.
- FIXED: When a VAP was planned in a flight plan were the VAP LIB had a lower altitude planned than the one just before that, PocketFMS would route the VAP via overhead the airport instead of direct.
|
| |
Version 0.9.66, Internet released 13JUN2007.
|
- CHANGED: Tooltip text "Toggle Absolute Ground Elevation" has been replaced with "Toggle Absolute Terrain".
- CHANGED: IFR waypoints now only display ID regardless of settings in File | Properties, Objects tab.
- FIXED: PocketFMS did not convert FP's from previous versions correctly, resulting in strange behaviours like crashing, warnings etc.
- FIXED: Class exceptions for Airspaces were not listed in Airspace Info Window, Comms & Info window and Airspace Warning popup.
- FIXED: When in an info window (Airspace, Airports, etc.) an ampersand (&) was in the text, it was displayed as an underline.
- FIXED: PocketFMS could give a "subscription has ended" error when using a GPS that didn't send correct date information when nofix was established yet.
- FIXED: If the last leg of a FP was from a VFR RepPoint to an airport and the distance was too short to descend to runway elevation using current Airplane specs, the distance for that leg was computed totally wrong because the extra distance needed to do the descend was added.
- FIXED: When a space was leading or trailing the registration serial number or email address, the reminder window would have all buttons grayed leaving PocketFMS useless for the user.
- FIXED: When a dot (.) was entered as last digit in the serial number (well possible in case of Copy & Paste), the reminder window did accept it, but on next startup of PocketFMS all buttons were grayed leaving PocketFMS useless to the user.
- FIXED: When a user right-clicked on the map while no map objects where enabled to display, PocketFMS would search a long time of objects never to be found. This caused the PC version to be very slow when right-clicking on the map, and the PDA version even appeared to hang.
- FIXED: When WX Image overlay was chosen and no internet connection was available at that time, PocketFMS would never ever try to reload the WX Image bootstrap anymore until a restart of PocketFMS. A reload can be forced by doing Menu | WXImage | Rain radar.
- FIXED: If a user would do WX download in the First Use wizard, PocketFMS would crash after it completed the download.
- FIXED: When using "pure HSI" (HSI on, both Arc and Rose mode off) and the PlotPlane was located in such a way that an airspace warning was in effect, PocketFMS would crash on startup after a restart.
- FIXED: A serious bug that also exists in 0.9.64 with MapData was found. When a user installed a DataPack and then selected Internet | Get MapData (for example to get maps for an additional FIR not covered by the DataPack), all maps for the FIR covered in the DataPack were downloaded too. As a result, map tiles got duplicated, specially noticeable on the PDA's performance. This problem has been fixed, a sync to to PDA now skips any duplicate map tile.
- FIXED: Some GPS units send out a year 2026 in their data stream, causing PocketFMS to quit functioning because it considers the subscription as ended.
- FIXED: PocketFMS crashed when deleting a LIB just prior to a VFR RepPoint.
- FIXED: When requesting info for an object, if PocketFMS found a FIX, it reported "unknown datatype 16".
- FIXED: The directional arrows on the HSI pointed to the next event (TOC etc) instead of to the next waypoint.
- FIXED: When planning a LIB at 0ft, PocketFMS did create a TOD marker at the beginning of the leg, but not an EOD marker. You could ask if this is relevant of course ;-)
- FIXED: It could happen that some colors were listed multiple times in the MM colorpalette. As a result the ATS and RTS did not function properly in some cases.
- FIXED: The formula that calculates the intersection lat/lon of two great circles could provide large off-set coordinates. As a result, the flight plan LIBs could report airspaces classes that didn't get crossed at all. This was most significant on longer legs.
- IMPROVED: Support for separated executable and datapath has been implemented to support Windows Vista installations.
- IMPROVED: Avoidance routine has been tweaked a bit to reduce the chance of slightly scratching unwanted airspaces.
- IMPROVED: Some PDA's (Mio P550, P350) misformed NMEA messages every few minutes, resulting in erronous speeds and positions. PocketFMS now does some "sanity checks" to prevent use of these messages now.
- IMPROVED: File | Properties, several items rearranged.
- IMPROVED: Setup wizard text and order of appearance has been changed.
- IMPROVED: PocketFMS now can handle AGL airspaces more smart. Up to now, PocketFMS always displayed airspaces with an AGL limit, and always warned for them, even if the current AGL is below those limits. In File | Properties (Desktop version) or PocketFMS Settings screen (Pocket PC version) there is now an option called "Use current AGL for AGL Limits". If a users ticks this one, PocketFMS uses the current plane pos' actual AGL to display / hide AGL airspace and / or to warn for them. If the tickbox is left unticked, PocketFMS behaves like it did before, always displaying and warning for AGL airspaces.
- IMPROVED: Airspace warnings were a stack; if the last airspace warned for was still intruded while the ones below were no longer intruded, these were not removed from the warning stack.
- IMPROVED: On the PDA the Page Opt screen for the MM has been tidied up.
- NEW: Comm_type mf AND lwis added.
- NEW: TRZ (Transponder Recommended Zones) are now supported by PocketFMS.
- NEW: When a user registers, the message that pops up will also ask to verify the spam box because Hotmail, MSN and others often mark the automated registration messages as spam.
- NEW: Autopilot coupling has been implemented. All autopilot coupling settings can now be set using File | Properties, Autopilot tab.
- NEW: A user can now change the colors used in the GPS and Flight Plan infoboxes via File | Properties, Objects tab.
- NEW: When PocketFMS warns for an airspace, it now flashes the airspace boundery on the Moving Map as well, to indicate which airspace is involved. Flashing stops after the number of seconds given in "Airspace Flashing Time". Entering an Airspace while not having dismissed the airspace warning stops the flashing for non-AGL airspaces.
- NEW: The Airspace Warning now warns for an airspace that's entered, and not being warned for before. This can happen for example with AGL airspaces.
- NEW: Obstacle Warnings now mention AMSL at the height warning.

Version 0.9.65, Internet released 18MAR2007.
|
- CHANGED: The default PDA Storage limit default has been increased from 10MB to 100MB, and PocketFMS will no longer allow installation the PDA in main memory, so a Memory Card is now required.
- CHANGED: The internal structure for SUAS has changed.
ATTN AIRMARSHALS: Be careful with your first SUAS changes / additions!
- CHANGED: PocketFMS is no longer Donationware, starting 31MAR2007. Provisions have been made to accommodate for that.
- CHANGED: The startup warning disclaimer and the EULA / User Agreement have been changed.
- CHANGED: On the PDA, Page Opt for MM ELEV has been changed in ATS, TERR has been changed in RTS.
- CHANGED: NavData will now be called AeroData. NavData is a trademark of Jeppesen Sanderson.
- CHANGED: The TT-Line is now called the PlotLine.
- CHANGED: Comm frequencies now have been given the highest display priority, so they overwrite anything on their path.
- CHANGED: All frequencies except COMMs now display 2 instead of 3 decimals.
- CHANGED: PocketFMS PDA now displays 'Agree' and 'Disagree' with the startup license instead of 'Accept' and 'Decline'.
- FIXED: Airspace Info text does not display a slash ('/') anymore when no second frequency is assigned.
- FIXED: Comms in the USA were displayed twice in the Comms&Info window.
- FIXED: Naming convention for SUAS idents.
- FIXED: When a user entered a negative value as separation, really weird altitude readings were given.
- FIXED: Option WX DL 150NM did not work correctly in all directions.
- FIXED: Australian TAFs and METARs often had AMD in the TAF, causing PocketFMS to ignore the entire TAF/METAR.
- FIXED: Downloading NavData did not display progress bar and percentage correctly.
- FIXED: Sometimes Airspace Info showed a FIR not on top.
- FIXED: When the default VAP distance of 6.3 NM was changed by the user, PocketFMS did not recalculate the correct intercept altitude, and did not adjust the VAP accordingly.
- FIXED: Sometimes the hatching of airspaces mirrored with the actual line.
- FIXED: One toolbar on the Desktop version held a true color default, while it should have been a 16 color default. This caused Linux / Wine to crash.
- FIXED: Weight based fuel quantities were not calculated correctly.
- FIXED: When "auto adjust planned altitude" was NOT ticked in File | Properties | Flight Planning, a VAP would go berserk if the LIB was selected as Approach segment.
- FIXED: If in a flight plan an identifier was used where ICAO + Name was larger then 20 characters, loading such a flight plan would fail in finding that identifier.
- FIXED: COMports higher than COM9 needed a special naming convention. This has been applied, and it looks like the high COMport problems are solved.
- FIXED: Several minor typing errors.
- FIXED: By default AWS for Airspace Classes was always enabled, unless a specific Class had the AWS *not* ticked. Effectively this means that all airspaces without a Class (WX Areas, FIS, etc.) always got an AWS even if their AWS was not ticked.
- FIXED: Often AWS settings for airspace types and -classes were not correctly stored on the PDA due to wrong datatype being used during synchronization.
- FIXED: NDB's displayed the frequency wrong.
- FIXED: VAP made some weird OBS intercept turns.
- FIXED: File | Print map often displayed stray lines on the left side.
- FIXED: Toolbar layouts did not take row order into account, causing the toolbars to be repositioned on startup because the creating was done in a fixed order, not in row order.
- FIXED: When PocketFMS was run for the first time, and the FirstTimeUse wizard came, after downloading AeroData it created a Moving Map window which later was not destroyed when Moving Maps A andB were created. This caused a weird looking screen, that passed by as soon as you restarted PocketFMS.
- FIXED: If no ElevData is availabe while previously it was the terrain buttons were grayed, but PocketFMS still tried to paint ElevData, which caused a white look.
- FIXED: Right click, Functions did not take into account what objects were currently displayed on the Moving Map. It showed info also for for example waypoints even if waypoints were not selected to be displayed.
- FIXED: Info window for objects on the PDA did not show a scrollbar when needed.
- IMPROVED: ATZs receive the highest priority when displaying, so their visibility will be optimal.
- IMPROVED: Font creation for a lot of functions has been changed. On some PDA's with specific fonts installed, PocketFMS used the other installed font rather than the Tahoma font, resulting in weird looking text.
- IMPROVED: The Wind Calculator window now displays GPS Altitude, Density Altitude and Pressure Altitude based on given QNH and OAT.
- IMPROVED: The Airspace Info window and Comms&Info window now have Airspace Info cleansed and display new attributes like remarks, active periods etc.
- IMPROVED: The Comms&Info window now also displays AWOS frequencies together with ATIS frequencies.
- IMPROVED: The WX data downloads have been sped up and moved to the background. A popup will inform you when the download is ready.
- IMPROVED: Airspace warnings now suppress the line "contact ... on .." when there is no comm frequency or comm name available.
- IMPROVED: Airspace proximity warning now displays second frequency too if there is one available.
- IMPROVED: The background map cache doesn't get cleared anymore when switching zoomlevels. This should speed-up switching zoomlevels a bit.
- IMPROVED: The Airport info and Comms & Info for airports windows have been brushed-up a bit: MagVar for runways has been removed, frequencies display 3 decimal places, === ******=== is now displayed to indicate end of information.
- IMPROVED: VAP together with HSI inner &outer arrows.
- IMPROVED: DTK now follows VAP stages if applicable.
- IMPROVED: Flight Plan loading now checks if a missing waypoint has already reported missing. If so, no second message will be displayed.
- IMPROVED: The Airport Info and Comms&Info windows now display the same order of runways as the VFR approach chart does.
- IMPROVED: The installer recognizes previously installed versions from now on and installs PocketFMS in the correct folder if a different folder was used than the default one.
- NEW: Internal modifications for Airspace Moderation support have been made.
- NEW: File | Properties | Airspace Types tab has been expanded with FISA / FIA, TMZ, MBZ, ASR, AWY, TIZ and TIA lines to set colors, hatching and airspace warnings for those airspace types.
- NEW: A new toolbar has been added, called the Meteo bar. On the PDA, the Page Opt for a Moving Map now has buttons for detailed WX options like SigWX, winds and METAR / TAF depiction.
- NEW: PocketFMS now supports overlaying and animating WX images grabbed from the Internet. This option is not yet available for all regions.
- NEW: TIZ and TIA have been added as airspace types.
- NEW: There are new color settings for SRZ's and WXArea's. The WXArea's can have a pen width of zero to indicate the areas do not need to be painted.
- NEW: A second Moving Map window has been introduced, switchable by toggle A or B. With the addition of extended Meteo features, a single Moving Map would get too cluttered. Both Moving Map windows have identical possibilities, though the second comes preconfigured as a WX map.
- NEW: WX display on the Moving Map now displays METAR's / TAF's in military color code circles. METAR / TAF depiction has been made semi-transparent. Also, if it's a METAR being displayed, a solid circle is drawn around the depiction, if it's a TAF, a dotted circle is drawn. Colors and parameters used to display METAR / TAF depiction can now be changed using File | Properties | WXColors tab.
- NEW: For Europe, SigWX (rain, drizzle, TS etc.) data from Wetter-Jetzt has been implemented. For this, a SigWX symbol has been added to the also new WX toolbar.
- NEW: Internet | Download Meteodata on the PC version now downloads winds aloft for Europe for 2000ft AGL, 5000ft AMSL and FL85. When downloading WX Information on the PC version for Australia, PocketFMS tries to get the winds aloft from the WX briefing too.
- NEW: A new unit for Visibility has been created, the WX colors tab has been adjusted accordingly.
- NEW: When you right-click on a LIB, and that LIB's planned altitude is higher than the planned alt of the next LIB, a new option "Early Descend" will be created in the pop-up. When you enable this, PocketFMS will descend to the planned altitude of that next LIB BEFORE reaching the end point of the current LIB.
- NEW: USA radar images have been implemented.
- NEW: USA winds have been added (need some improvements though).
- NEW: For Europe, cloudbase forecast (<500ft, <1000ft and <2000ft) has been implemented. Colors can be set using File | Properties | WX Colors tab.
- NEW: METAR & TAF downloads on the PC now get synchronized to the PDA as well.

Version 0.9.64, Internet released 23AUG2006.
|
- FIXED: The PlotPlane position was offset quite a bit when Default Track unit was Magnetic, North was up, and an area with large Magnetic Variation was displayed.
- FIXED: Using long-named objects in a Flight Plan still returned empty.
|
| |
Version 0.9.63, Internet released 20AUG2006.
|
- FIXED: The VFR Approach chart often did not display runway information.
- FIXED: On some PDA's the Dashboard screen did not display all digits for current track, BRG and DTK.
- FIXED: When adding a user defined object of type NDB, the shortname entered could not be found when searching.
- FIXED: The ILS's were lined up based on True instead of Magnetic North.
- FIXED: In Comm&Info window, if an ATIS frequency ended with 0.00, it was displayed without the 0.00, for example 120.00 was displayed as 12.
- FIXED: When manually selecting a COMPort in the PDA version, PocketFMS opened the port after the one selected. For example, if a user selected COM1, PocketFMS tried to open COM2.
- FIXED: The declutter for place names did not function properly on zoomlevels 5-10.
- FIXED: When default track unit was Magnetic and TN was up, the HSI did indeed display TN up, but displayed MT in the lubberline. In this situation, PocketFMS will now display MT up.
- FIXED: When decreasing / increasing brightness, forests at a point became gray instead of green.
- FIXED: File | Print map did not display Flight Plan legs.
- FIXED: PAIM's did not correctly convert speeds from mps to mph.
- FIXED: ID's of user-added reporting points were not displayed on the Moving Map.
- FIXED: When loading a Flight Plan with a missing waypoint, often the leg after that was deleted to because the starting waypoint could also not be found.
- FIXED: When a Flight Plan was saved with one or more LIB's to a place name with non-English characters in it, the subsequent loading of that Flight Plan would fail.
- FIXED: If an obstacle's top was more then 800ft above the current altitude, an Obstacle Warning was not issued.
- FIXED: A small number of airport symbols could disappear from the map on Western hemisphere.
- FIXED: When adding a user waypoint with GPS on, exiting this editing with "DirectTo" caused PocketFMS to flash screens constantly trying to display the message "Current FP has been saved, do you wish to save it".
- FIXED: When synchronizing with the PDA and a large MapData file exists, PocketFMS did load the entire maps.pfmsmaps file into memory, causing messages like pagefiles that needed extended etc.
- FIXED: When a user object was added with a non-English character in its name, this object was never found on the PC, resulting in that waypoint always being added. Next sync, two of those would be merged, resulting in 4 of the same objects in user.pfmsdata. Next time those 4 resulted in 8 and so on and so on.
IT IS IMPORTANT THAT ALL USERS WHO ADDED A USER OBJECT WITH NON-ENGLISH CHARACTERS DELETE THEIR USER.PFMSDATA FROM BOTH THEIR PC AND PDA!!! THIS IS REQUIRED BECAUSE THIS FILE WILL NOW PROBABLY BE EXECPTIONALLY LARGE AND PERFORMANCE OF POCKETFMS WILL DEGRADE RAPIDLY.
- FIXED: Colors for SUAS airspaces were not put explicitly in the palette. As a result, when SUAS got painted, a slightly different color could be used.
- FIXED: SUAS airspace were given a wrong priority in airspace painting. As a result, SUAS with roughly the same boundaries as a normal airspace were sometimes not clearly visible on the map (e.g. Washington DC ADIZ).
- FIXED: PocketFMS tries to minimize Mapfile building. It didn't recognize if a user copied new files to \program files\pocketfms, in which case new maps for the PDA would not be built.
- FIXED: When a Flight Plan starts at a fix, the .DTL file's "DEP=" (departure point) field was left blank whereas it should contain the lat/long of the fix.
- FIXED: When editing the Takeoff time using the PAIM, often the entered time was misinterpreted.
- FIXED: When an airport was a waterdrome only, PocketFMS still displayed a small anchor (indicating both water and solid runways) instead of a big anchor.
- FIXED: If during NavData build or MapData build (sync with PDA) the temporary file grew beyond 2GB, the resulting datafile would get corrupted, resulting in CRC error messages on the PDA.
- FIXED: If a LIB was to an object which ID + fullname had a length exceeding 49 characters, PocketFMS could not find the object during Flight Plan load.
- FIXED: Merging user defined waypoints now takes deleted waypoints into account.
- IMPROVED: Non-suitable airports will not have Comms displayed on the Moving Map. This saves a lot of processing time in high-density areas.
- IMPROVED: To make it easier to select the right Comm types to be displayed on the Moving Map using File | Properties, Object Tab, the VFR Approach chart now displays the Comm types between brackets.
- IMPROVED: Numeric values in Info window and Comms & Info are now displayed without leading zero's.
- IMPROVED: If the GPS fix is not 3D, the Moving Map and the Dashboard window will display N/A as altitude.
- IMPROVED: The total distance PAIM in the Flight Plan windows has been enlarged a bit.
- IMPROVED: ID's of user objects were displayed left-aligned, this has been changed to center-aligned.
- IMPROVED: ID's of VRPT objects were displayed left-aligned, this has been changed to center-aligned.
- IMPROVED: Drop down vertical size for the Avoid Clouds in Avoid option in flight planning has been increased.
- IMPROVED: The Donor serial number is now password edited to prevent undesired copying.
- IMPROVED: Depending on the setting of the default Track direction Unit, the map will now get aligned to True North or Magnetic North. As a result the HSI is now correctly aligned. As a further result, the tooltip for the associated button has been changed, and on the PDA these buttons are now called [NRTH Up] and [TRK Up].

Version 0.9.62, Internet released 10JUL2006.
|
- FIXED: The Flight Planning, Advanced settings, Moving Map settings, Airplane specs, Dashboard, Comms & Info, WindCalc and WindCalc settings windows on the PDA have been modified so they display the bottom menu bar correct on WM2005 devices.
- FIXED: When using the X in the Flight Plan window to close it on the PC, the map got recentered.
- FIXED: When using Nearest, PocketFMS kept searching until it found 5 objects to display. If there are no 5 objects, it kept searching, expanding its search radius each time until it searched the entire Earth. This took a long time on the PDA! The Nearest function will now stop after expanding the search radius twice.
- FIXED: When canceling Search, the search window now closes completely instead of leaving a simple window with a [Cancel] only button.
- FIXED: When the info window spanned a text over multiple lines, and the result didn't fit the page, it took the next line to display.
- FIXED: When a PAIM was active, hotkeys and menu's were still active, resulting in all kinds of strange behavior.
- FIXED: The Flight Plan line got printed double sometimes.
- FIXED: MSA values and place names were not listed in the NavLog.
- FIXED: If PocketFMS PC was minimized and then closed, the toolbars got totally messed up.
- FIXED: While building waypoints during Avoid execution, the Moving Map screen flickered a lot.
- FIXED: Any toolbar docked to the left or right side of the screen (vertical) got shifted down 35 pixels on each start-up.
- FIXED: Waypoints in waypoints.txt with a negative longitude sign AND in Degrees Minutes seconds format were not correctly converted. For example -106°42'54" as longitude was put at the wrong place.
- FIXED: When PocketFMS discovered a map copyright problem, it displayed a message stating "the file is not loaded" and then crashed. The crashing part has been solved.
- FIXED: PAIM alignment.
- FIXED: When a user changed units while a Flight Plan was active, the unit was not cleared before displaying the new unit.
- FIXED: The Deviation Bar label on the PDA's dashboard screen was obscured.
- FIXED: When in Moving Map settings, zooming in and out did not update the buttons.
- FIXED: Banner for the Airplane window on the PDA now correctly displays "Airplane" instead of "Start".
- FIXED: On all tool tips 'Display/hide' has been replaced by 'Toggle'.
- FIXED: Numerous textual changes.
- FIXED: When tapping on the PDA's Moving Map screen not long enough to simulate a right-click, the screen was cleared every time on stylus release.
- FIXED: When rubber-banding a Flight Plan line, often the previously dragged line was painted too.
- FIXED: Comm's weren't decluttered correctly on zoomlevels 0-3.
- IMPROVED: PocketFMS now uses a very enhanced memory model. This will allow for faster data access and smoother handling of larger files. NavData indexing after a new NavData download takes longer now, though.
- IMPROVED: Airspaces are now painted on Class base, from low order (G) to high order (A). This way the most restricting airspace gets painted last, so it'll always be visible.
- IMPROVED: All Object ID's and names can now be displayed Transparent or Boxed, but also Haloed.
- IMPROVED: Airspace not relative to MSL (for example AGL, SURFACE, SFC) is now always displayed regardless of the Hide Airspace settings.
- IMPROVED: The magnetic variation model has been updated to NIMA's latest version.
- IMPROVED: On the PDA, the zoomlevel indicator on the Moving Map settings screen has been relocated to the zoomlevel dependant functions.
- IMPROVED: DirectTo is no longer limited to 100 NM.
- IMPROVED: Using File | Properties, Airspace Type Colors a user now can set colors etc. for ATZ's.
- IMPROVED: Glider-Only and Heli-Only airfields now have their own symbol defined.
- IMPROVED: Menu title "Download MapData" has been changed into "Download MapData for this zoomlevel". We expect this will give more clarity for new users.
- IMPROVED: Internal priority for frequencies has been changed so they are a bit lower priority than the airport symbol itself. This prevents most frequencies being displayed while no associated airport symbol was displayed.
- IMPROVED: The order of items in "Internet menu" has been changed into a more logical order.
- IMPROVED: The map option buttons for TACANs and VORTACs have been removed, TACANs and VORTACs now get displayed along with the VORs.
- IMPROVED: Identifiers for Runways have been changed so they won't show up as first items on a selection list.
- IMPROVED: If an object is available because it's defined in waypoints.txt, and a user tries to delete it from within PocketFMS, a message will be shown that PocketFMS can't comply because it never writes to waypoints.txt.
- IMPROVED: The right margin of the Dashboard screen has been decreased, allowing more room for WPT length.
- IMPROVED: PAIM input has been changed to prevent unnecessary time spent on searching. Searching now only takes place after 1.5 seconds no input has been given.
- IMPROVED: For zoomlevels 0 - 3, declutter for frequencies was a bit strict.
- IMPROVED: Size of VRP font for zoomlevels 6-10 has been made a bit smaller.
- IMPROVED: Loading time of Flight Plans has been improved.
- IMPROVED: Performance of the Moving Map with a Flight Plan loaded has been improved.
- IMPROVED: An additional method of downloading MapData has been implemented to speedup the download of MapData. This is transparent to the user.
- IMPROVED: The breadcrumb file gets flushed every 60 seconds now to limit losing breadcrumbs in case of abnormal program terminations.
- NEW: Comm frequencies and place names are no part of the background bitmap anymore, they will stay upright all the time, regardless of the map orientation and can be switched on and off.
- NEW: Place names have now become objects, so they can now be used in a Flight Plan, search window enables appropriate options.
- NEW: Place names in the Search list are now preceded by a special symbol to indicate it is a place.
- NEW: The Search list now contains a button [Begins with]. With this button pressed, PocketFMS only searches for names that begin with the entered characters, resulting in much faster search times.
- NEW: A user can select what frequencies to display for each zoomlevel by using File | Properties, Object Color tab. PocketFMS will only display frequencies mentioned in that CommList provided that CommList is not empty. In that case, the first 3 found com frequencies will be displayed.
- NEW: PocketFMS has a new program icon instead of the grey compass rose.
- NEW: It is now possible to display an extended track line on the Moving Map.
- NEW: PocketFMS now supports DME-only objects.
- NEW: A First Use wizard has been integrated, it runs the first time PocketFMS is started, or on command by choosing Help | Setup Wizard.
- NEW: It's now possible to display ILS information on the Moving Map. ILS Labels get a little offset based on R/L Runway identifiers to prevent overwriting them in case of two parallel runways.
- NEW: VOR's, DME's and ILS' that have a DME with it now display a "D" preceding the NavAid's Ident.
- NEW: In File | Properties, Object tab, all zoomlevel dependent settings now have a box around them with the current zoomlevel in the top right corner.
- NEW: A new system (CDS - Content Delivery System) is implemented to send messages from the PocketFMS Foundation to all PocketFMS users. If there are new Foundation messages, the PocketFMS window will blink for a few seconds, the actual messages can be read using Help | Messages. If after startup of PocketFMS or after downloading NavData a new CDS message is found, a popup will be shown to notify the user. CDS messages will not be displayed if the user runs PocketFMS for the first time and uses the wizard.
- NEW: New Donor maps have been rendered.
- NEW: The Flight Plan window now contains a [Reverse Flight Plan] button.
- NEW: COM0 and COM10 to COM99 have been added to the list of available COMports.
